In partnership with the Grant Manager, I oversee the direction of grant programs awarded to HFHM in such a way that the maximum measurable effects are achieved; create and maintain sources of information, instructions, and analytics so that the benefits are received by all that seek them; offer efficient support and creative resources for obstacles experienced by Habitat for Humanity. I also provide support to both Habitat for Humanity affiliates and the general public in order to strengthen potential applicants and partner families as they pursue their goal of homeownership either through Habitat for Humanity or another housing solution.

I am mainly responsible for the creating and executing the special events and conferences held by the Association. I also provide communications support for our two major programs, maintain our social media profile and monitor our websites and technology.

I am delighted to join the Arts Council's team in leading, advocating for, and advancing culture in the region!  The Arts Council provides education, funding, resources, and consulting services to artists and arts organizations.  As Program Manager, I am privileged to work with both those who love art and those who make art.  My primary responsibilities include: grants management, membership programs, and fund development assistance.  I also coordinate the SmArts Program for Creatives, which offers professional development to build creative businesses, careers or artistic skills in the arts.

In my position, I will maintain the relationship the Food Bank Council of MI has with the Food Assistance Program (FAP). I work with community partners to assist potentially eligible food bank patrons with applying for food assistance benefits. I will also act a liaison for multiple programs to maintain relationships centered on advocating for those in need.

In my new role, I perform and coordinate a number of activities related to internal and external communications. My responsibilities include maintaining our website and social media pages, developing promotional materials/strategies for special programs and events, and working with community partners and contacts. My background in interactive media aligns perfectly with the goal of a hands-on science center, and I’m excited to seek out new, innovative ways for our guests to interact with everything Impression 5 has to offer.

At the Early Childhood Investment Corporation, I will be communicating with collaborative groups, school districts and residents of Michigan about the importance of keeping young children a priority. My duties range from web maintenance and social media to advocacy and public policy.

This position has allowed me to gain experience by applying my knowledge and skills in a creative work environment. Creating designs for logos, invitations and brochures. Collaborating with the Communications Coordinator and Executive Director.  Working within a team, but also independently.

I work with Louise, OTCA Executive Director, and the OTCA Board of Directors to continue the revitalization of Old Town Lansing which includes producing large scale festivals & events, beautification projects and community enhancements. On a daily basis I update our website, produce the monthly Old Town newsletter and manage our social media presence on Facebook and Twitter. Through my new position as the Communications Director I have had the opportunity to meet and build relationships with many different people throughout the community, this is my favorite part of the job. Old Town is a wonderfully tight & collaborative community with so many diverse, creative and inspiring people working together to help Old Town reach its full potential and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it.

I volunteer/intern for the Beekman Therapeutic Riding Center as a therapeutic ridding instructor where I assist children with disabilities in riding horses using the techniques of natural horsemanship. The purpose of the program is to create an experience that is unique and enjoyable to the rider while also creating an atmosphere that will improve muscle tone, balance, develop confidence and a sense of responsibility within the rider. Each rider's needs and abilities are assessed before riding, then a lesson plan is established and tailored to the student. Lessons are always being updated as the rider progresses. I have experienced first-hand the benefits and rewards this program brings and I feel fortunate to be affiliated with this program.

Working for the Michigan Townships Association is inspiring because I get to witness so many passionate people working hard to restore prosperity to the state of Michigan. My job responsibilities range from event planning to editing to graphic design, and I've been lucky to learn and improve a wide range of skills in this position. I love being able to network and build relationships with marketing and advertising professionals that wish to connect with township officials.
 
I was grateful to get a job in the Lansing area right out of college. I was already in love with the area since I grew up around here and attended Michigan State. There are so many young people traveling to or staying in the Lansing area, and the downtown is really thriving. Businesses are popping up and succeeding all over the place, and I truly feel that the Lansing area has a positive and exciting future ahead.

I write reports and proposals, edit various documents and complete any other awesome tasks that come across my desk. I love it -- the people are great, our work is meaningful, old town is fun and I get to do something I'm passionate about.

The job was posted on The Nature Conservancy website and it seemed to fit well with my past professional experience and my personal passion for nature, science and the outdoors. I was also hoping to return to the Lansing area after working in Ann Arbor for the summer.

I lead a group of AmeriCorps members who serve at nonprofit organizations in Ingham County.  We aim to reduce chronic disease for Lansing area residents by increasing access to healthy food and exercise.  We create, maintain, and expand sustainable food systems, community gardens, trails, greenways, and non-motorized transportation options.  The group currently consists of 15 members who serve at 11 local organizations.  I moved to Lansing last year to be an AmeriCorps member in the first year of the program.  Now, as Program Director, I have the opportunity to see the projects we started grow in the second and third program years.  These projects include reducing food deserts and auto dependence and promoting healthy lifestyles, gardening, biking, and local food.

I started at the Greater Lansing Food Bank part-time at first and they offered me a full-time position a handful of months later, dually with the Garden Project. On the GLFB side of things, I verify numbers for our voucher program, handle checks and donations, data entry, mailings, as well as other more general office duties such as answering phones, filing, etc. The Garden Project side of things is becoming more and more active right now as the weather is starting to finally come around. I organize/record the garden registrations that come in for those that would like to be involved in a community garden or home gardening, maintain ongoing correspondence with our gardeners as is fit, mailings, some website management and other more general office duties. I am also going to get a chance to organize some fun events for our staff members!

I chose GLFB/ the Garden Project because of the greatness of the work; having lived in Lansing my whole life I have seen the struggles that we all may face through the hardships in this awesome city. I loved the idea of being able to grow my own food, and learning this life-long lesson along with our community. The GLFB is not just a resource for food for those that need it; it is also an incubator of great people, ideas, and drive. I had to join! As a recent college graduate, I was ecstatic to find something in my field, in the location I wanted, working with people I enjoy being around. In a city as progressive as Lansing, I felt I needed to get involved and be a part of the movement!

I started at the VFW National Home for Children in May 2010, while the organization was in the midst of rebranding itself. In fact, one of my first tasks was the complete overhaul of our website. In my capacity as Communications Officer, I am responsible for the National Home’s website, our Facebook page, blog, newsletters and other written materials. This year, I am leading our first major push to market our services directly to military families across the country. Before coming to the National Home, I spent seven years in the Michigan Senate. While I miss working in downtown Lansing more than I imagined I would, the commute is worth it to get the opportunity to work with such a tremendous group of professionals on behalf of our servicemen and women and their families.
