Sign Up For Our CG Speakers Series! Incubating Success

What is the Capital region trying to achieve with incubators like The Hatch, the TIC, the NEO Center, the DeWitt Creativity Group and ITEC? Are they economic drivers? What additional incubators could the Capital region support?

Capital Gains will be listening for answers at our very first Speaker Series, held March 25 at The Loft in Downtown Lansing (located at 414 E. Michigan Ave., in the same building as Harem Urban Lounge).

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited so you must pre-register.

The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with sign-in starting at 5:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m. and run for a little over an hour. Refreshments (beer and wine) will be provided.

Our featured speaker is Amy Cell, vice president of talent enhancement for Ann Arbor SPARK. Ann Arbor SPARK is a very successful business accelerator that’s helped numerous start-ups and existing businesses expand and increase marketplace presence. In 2009, Ann Arbor SPARK helped generate $147 million in investment in the Ann Arbor area, attracted seven firms to the region, took on 34 additional projects and opened the SPARK East Business Incubator in Ypsilanti.

Following Amy’s presentation there will be a short panel discussion with two Capital region leaders who have created incubation spaces:
  • Thomas Stewart with the NEO Center
  • Jason LaFay with the DeWitt Creativity Group
Networking and discussion afterward is encouraged.

Capital Gains’ Speaker Series is sponsored by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
