New year, new faces

As we bid farewell to all that was 2013, we also sadly say goodbye to two familiar faces at Capital Gains. Longtime news editor, Natalie Burg, and innovation news editor, Veronica Gracia-Wing.

Burg covered the burgeoning developments in the Capital region for more than three years, driving through our area's many townships and cities to highlight its consistent business growth, alongside larger projects like the Accident Fund headquarters in downtown Lansing. She also brought creativity, vitality and humor to our pages.

Gracia-Wing's year with Capital Gains was an eventful one in the region. She saw to it that all things innovative were covered, while bringing a fun, fresh voice and perspective to the team.

Burg and Gracia-Wing, we will miss you both dearly at our editorial meetings.

And now I'm excited to officially welcome Ann Kammerer, who takes over as Capital Gains' development news editor. Kammerer has been one of our most reliable and entertaining freelancers at Capital Gains from the publication's beginning.

Her writing career has taken her from hospitality industry textbooks to jewelry descriptions, to the beating heart of the domestic bus industry. Her short fiction has appeared in several regional magazines and she's covered Lansing business, non-profits and people for various publications for going on 25 years. I'm excited to have her on board on the editorial side of things.

I'm also excited to introduce Tashmica Torok, who will be Capital Gains' innovation news editor. When Torok isn't writing, she's busy being the founder & executive director of The Firecracker Foundation, or skating for the Lansing Derby Vixens as Nina Firecracker.

As always, thanks for reading Capital Gains. We can't wait to see what our region has in store for us this year.
