The Land Grant: Art, Agriculture, Sustainability

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University is launching The Land Grant: Art, Agriculture, Sustainability, a new annual residency program for artists whose work addresses land use, food, and urban development, with a focus on sustainability.

Participants will have access to thought leaders across university departments as they develop their projects, and acres of university land on which to work.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Friday, April 20:
107 South Kedzie Hall, Michigan State University Campus

7 p.m. Severine Von Tscharner Fleming's 2011 documentary film, The Greenhorns, examines America's young farming community.

Saturday, April 21:
333 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing
(former Barnes & Noble space)

3-5 p.m. Artists, activists and academics join a town hall meeting to explore what The Land Grant means for MSU.

3-5 p.m. Students for the Broad Art Museum present farming and sustainability activities for kids of all ages.

5-7 p.m. The former Barnes & Noble space on Grand River Avenue comes alive with local music and food and beverage purveyors selling their goods in an indoor farmers' market.
