Family-owned convenience store opens on Lake Lansing, adds 12 jobs

J&H Family Stores knows the convenience store business. The Wyoming, Michigan-based, family-owned and operated company has been in the industry since 1969 and now owns 35 stores throughout the state. Their next location is set to open this week on the corner of Lake Lansing and Hagadorn.

“We’re in an area where there are a number of closed buildings and we’re looking to revitalize the area,” says Craig Hoppen of J&H Family Stores. “”Hopefully it helps jump start that area a little bit.”

The 3,800-square foot convenience store will include gasoline, diesel and ethanol blends, as well as J&H’s special brand of convenience store service.

“We really try to give a quality buying experience,” says Hoppen. “We’re fast, friendly and clean with good curb appeal.”

The new J&H Family Stores location will employ about 12 workers upon opening this week. The company also has a special focus on community involvement, making monthly contributions to local charities.
